Initiated by the shadows she observed on the ground and shadows on the ground, the artist spent months experimenting with a method to convey objects with two dimensions onto canvas. Rather the subject is transformed into a reproduction of itself in which the painting transforms into the medium for it's individual interpretation of the subject, particularly in the case of alive or perishable for example, like humans or fruit. Alexa Meade's style of painting, which is very ephemeral in nature, is apparent. The only piece from her work that is preserved is her photograph. Techniques of photography and painting closely synchronized, which results in a flat two-dimensional space which achieves trompe-l'oeil. The only areas of the photo, like the hair or eyes, display the three-dimensional dimension. Meade sometimes integrates her paintings in the 3D world that surrounds the figures. They are able to interact with the self-created world. Thereby repealing the boundaries between photography, painting performances and installations.
